Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40: Facing Rhodes and The Rock
During a conversation on the Sports Illustrated Media podcast, Roman Reigns discussed his mindset when he was set to face either Cody Rhodes or The Rock in the main event of WrestleMania 40. Despite backstage uncertainty and fan speculation about who his opponent would be, Reigns expressed that he was solely focused on being the main event and defending the WWE Championship, regardless of the competitor.
He said, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. It was the same task in hand for me."
Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Royal Rumble but initially stated he would not challenge Reigns, paving the way for The Rock’s anticipated involvement. However, fan backlash prompted a reversal, leading to The Rock turning heel and aligning with Reigns as The Final Boss. When asked about a potential match with The Rock in the future, Reigns indicated that fan demand would be key, stating, “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.” The Rock made a surprise WWE return last month but has yet to clarify his intentions, leaving room for speculation on future storylines, especially with ongoing Bloodline rivalries.
Tommy Fury’s WWE Ambitions
Tommy Fury, a professional boxer with an undefeated record and brother to Tyson Fury, recently posted a YouTube video documenting his visit backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour. He expressed appreciation for the wrestlers and hinted at interest in joining WWE in the future: “I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?”
His brother Tyson had a brief WWE stint, including a match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a notable moment at Clash at the Castle 2022. Tommy’s connections and popularity could position him well for involvement in WWE storylines, especially considering potential matchups with the Paul brothers, who have established WWE ties.
Oba Femi’s Uncertain Status in NXT
Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has reportedly been absent from NXT tapings for several weeks following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc in late October. Femi had an impressive rise since debuting in April 2023, highlighted by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days.
His recent losses and disappearance from programming have sparked questions about whether he is recuperating from injury, preparing for a main roster promotion, or simply undergoing a storyline hiatus.
