Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence
In recent developments within the WWE Universe, Roman Reigns shared his insights on WrestleMania 40 opponents, boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a potential wrestling career with WWE, and emerging star Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT programming.
Roman Reigns and WrestleMania 40 Reflections
During a candid interview on the SI Media podcast, WWE’s top star Roman Reigns discussed his experience surrounding WrestleMania 40, particularly regarding the shifting main event plans involving himself, Cody Rhodes, and The Rock. Reigns revealed that whether facing Rhodes or The Rock mattered little to him, as his focus was solely on defending his championship and maintaining his spot at the pinnacle of the company.
He stated, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It was the same task in hand for me." This comment came amid the earlier speculation of a Reigns versus The Rock match, which ultimately did not materialize at WrestleMania 40. Reigns also addressed the possibility of a future bout with The Rock, leaving the door open if fan demand is strong enough. "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen," he noted. The Rock had made a surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event but has yet to clarify his future plans in the company.
Tommy Fury Explores WWE Prospects
Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, expressed interest in entering the professional wrestling realm. Posting a video from a WWE show during the UK tour, Fury praised WWE Superstars such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and hinted at climbing through the ropes himself one day.
At 25 years old and undefeated in his boxing career, Tommy Fury has garnered attention for his accomplishments and family legacy. Given his connections with the Paul family and the crossover appeal of brother-versus-brother storylines, the prospect of Tommy Fury joining WWE could engage a broader audience.
Oba Femi’s Unexplained Absence from NXT
Meanwhile, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has not appeared on NXT television or backstage since late October following his title loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc. With no official explanation, his absence has sparked speculation.
Femi had a strong run after debuting in April 2023, including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days. After suffering consecutive losses to D’Angelo, it remains unclear whether Femi is resting, recovering from injury, or being positioned for a future main roster call-up.
As the WWE Universe awaits his return, many anticipate that Femi will remain a top contender for the NXT Championship and continue to be a major presence in developmental programming.
These updates highlight the dynamic and evolving storylines within WWE, blending established stars, rising talents, and intriguing talent possibilities from outside the wrestling world.
