Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence
Roman Reigns Talks WrestleMania 40 Opponents and The Rock
During a recent interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on his WrestleMania 40 main event experience and potential future matches. Reigns discussed the apparent back-and-forth about whether he would face The Rock or Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, stating that being in the main event was what mattered most to him rather than the specific opponent.
“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with,” Reigns said, emphasizing his focus on defending his position at the pinnacle of WWE rather than the particular challenger. The build-up saw Rhodes win the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but initially decline to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship, leading to The Rock being positioned as the challenger. Fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse his stance, with The Rock turning heel and aligning with Reigns as “The Final Boss.” The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, before Rhodes captured the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. Asked about the possibility of a future match against The Rock, Reigns indicated it remains a viable option if fans show enthusiasm for it. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said. The Rock made a surprise return to WWE at the Bad Blood event last month but has not provided clarity on his long-term intentions. With a WarGames match involving The Bloodline stable scheduled for Survivor Series, speculation grows about The Rock’s potential involvement in ongoing storylines.
Tommy Fury Expresses Interest in WWE Career
British boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has hinted at a future in professional wrestling with WWE. Fury recently posted a YouTube video showing his backstage experiences at a WWE UK show, where he interacted with established WWE talents such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
“So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete,” Fury said, “Big up to Randy Orton. Absolutely amazing guy. Big up to Cody Rhodes, all of them, Gunther, the lot of them. Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?”
Tommy Fury is undefeated in professional boxing and the only boxer to have defeated influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. His connections and experiences suggest potential crossover appeal, particularly as a possible future rival or partner for Logan Paul, who is an active WWE Superstar.
Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT and Future Prospects
In other WWE news, former North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT tapings over the past month. Following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, Femi has not appeared on television or backstage at recent events, according to reports. The reasons for his absence have not been disclosed but could relate to injury, a planned hiatus, or preparations for a debut on WWE’s main roster.
Femi debuted on NXT television in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship from Dragon Lee, holding the title for a record 272 days before his defeat last month. The former University of Alabama shot put star remains a strong contender in NXT and could be positioned to challenge for the NXT Championship upon his return.
As WWE fans await further developments, Reigns’ reflections, Fury’s wrestling ambitions, and Femi’s future in the company highlight evolving storylines and potential new chapters in the WWE landscape.
