Ukrainian Tourist Igor Komarov Kidnapped in Bali; Severed Human Remains Found Weeks Later

Bali, Indonesia – March 6, 2026

Authorities in Bali are investigating a chilling case involving the abduction and suspected murder of Igor Komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist, whose dismembered body parts were discovered weeks after his kidnapping in a violent and coordinated operation.

Kidnapping and Demand for Ransom

Komarov, the son of a wealthy and controversial Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr “Narik” Petrovsky, was abducted on February 15 while riding a scooter in Jimbaran, Bali. Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple assailants traveling in a convoy, who executed the kidnapping in a military-style fashion.

Following the abduction, kidnappers released a video showing Komarov injured and pleading for a ransom of $10 million. In the footage, Komarov, visibly bruised and with a heavily bandaged left arm stump, claimed the kidnappers were affiliated with a Ukrainian criminal group accusing his father of defrauding them. He urged his family to settle the ransom, stating that neither mafia affiliates nor the police could aid his rescue.

Discovery of Human Remains

On February 27, police announced the grim discovery of multiple human body parts—including a severed head, leg segments, torso fragments, and internal organs—near the mouth of the Wos River, approximately 19 miles from Tabanan, on Bali’s eastern coast. Preliminary forensic assessments suggest the victim died around February 24, about three days before the remains were found.

Although advanced decomposition hindered immediate identification, investigators noted tattoos on the remains resembling Komarov’s, and the coroner indicated the skull’s characteristics aligned with a Caucasian male consistent with Komarov’s profile. DNA testing is underway to confirm identity.

Investigation and Suspects

Authorities traced one of the rental vehicles linked to the abduction to a luxury villa in Tabanan, where blood traces matching those found in the abduction vehicle were recovered. The villa was reportedly the site where Komarov was held captive and tortured.

Police have detained a foreign national suspected of renting one of the vehicles using a fraudulent passport. Additionally, six other foreign nationals have been named as suspects, five of whom are believed to have fled Bali via its international airport. Six suspects are now on Indonesia’s wanted list and subject to an Interpol Red Notice, urging worldwide assistance in their apprehension.

Background

Igor Komarov was vacationing with his girlfriend, Yea Mishalova, a social media influencer, when the kidnapping occurred. His father, Oleksandr Petrovsky, known as Narik, is reported to have extensive business operations and alleged ties to criminal networks in Ukraine.

This violent abduction and the subsequent discovery of dismembered remains have shocked Bali and raised questions regarding criminal elements targeting foreign nationals on the island. Indonesian authorities continue their investigation as forensic analysis and search for fugitives proceed.
