According to authorities, the victim only walked about 100 meters along the forest trail before experiencing severe shortness of breath. He was seen holding onto a tree trunk and gasping for air. Discussions with the victim’s family regarding procedures were ongoing, with no decision yet to proceed with a post-mortem examination.
Police Statement
Buleleng Police Public Relations Chief, First Inspector Yohana Rosalin Diaz, said, “The victim had only travelled a short distance when he began to feel breathless, lost consciousness, and died despite efforts to assist him.”
She added that the victim was accompanied by a local guide throughout the trek and that initial findings suggested exhaustion as the cause of death.
The West Bali National Park is a well-known destination for trekking and wildlife observation, but visitors are advised to be cautious and prepared due to the park’s rugged terrain and tropical climate.
Authorities continue to coordinate with the victim’s family and consulate as they finalize formalities surrounding this unfortunate event.
