Massive Brawl Erupts Among Tourists at Popular Bali Nightclub

A violent altercation involving at least 14 tourists broke out late at night on May 22 at Jade by Todd English, a well-known upscale nightclub located in the Canggu area of Bali. The incident shocked patrons and staff when two groups of foreign tourists began a heated dispute that quickly escalated into a physical brawl.

According to eyewitness reports and viral footage, the confrontation started shortly after 1 a.m. when verbal tensions between the groups escalated, culminating in one individual throwing a drinking glass toward the other party. This act ignited chaos as several men engaged in a fierce fight using liquor bottles and shattered glass as weapons. The nightclub floor was left littered with broken glass and visible bloodstains from injuries sustained during the fight.

Panic spread rapidly among other guests, many of whom fled the venue while some bystanders tried to intervene. Security personnel also stepped in to break up the fight, but the scuffle resulted in multiple injuries that required medical attention. Several individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local authorities from the Badung Police quickly responded to the scene. A police spokesperson confirmed that the incident involved two groups, each comprising seven foreign nationals. The investigation indicated that factors such as excessive alcohol consumption and overcrowding—reports noted around 462 guests entered a space ideally suited for fewer than 100—were contributing elements to the outbreak of violence.

Following the incident, the police temporarily suspended operations at Jade by Todd English while reviewing witness statements and CCTV footage to identify those involved. The investigation remains ongoing.

This event marks another instance of troubling behavior linked to tourists in Bali, following similar previous clashes at popular venues such as Finns Beach Club earlier this year. In response, Bali’s government continues to enforce strict regulations aimed at maintaining respectful and safe tourism, including imposing a tourist levy designed to support cultural and environmental preservation efforts.

Authorities have called for calm and reiterated their commitment to addressing unruly conduct to ensure a harmonious and secure environment for both visitors and locals alike.
