Reigns expressed that it did not matter to him whether he faced Rhodes or The Rock, as long as he was in the spotlight defending his championship. “I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with…It didn’t matter who it is,” Reigns said, emphasizing the challenge of maintaining his position at the top of WWE.
The path to WrestleMania 40 saw some dramatic shifts. After winning the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes initially declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship, and The Rock seemed poised to take that spot. Addressing the long-awaited match between Reigns and The Rock which never materialized at WrestleMania 40, Reigns indicated the possibility of it happening in the future if fans demand it strongly enough. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” Reigns noted.

British professional boxer Tommy Fury has hinted at a potential future in WWE. Sharing footage from a recent WWE UK tour backstage visit, Fury thanked various WWE Superstars, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and expressed enthusiasm about possibly stepping into the wrestling ring one day. At age 25, Tommy Fury is unbeaten with a 10-0 professional boxing record and remains notable for being the only fighter to defeat Jake Paul.
Given the Fury family’s previous association with WWE—his older brother Tyson Fury had a high-profile match at Crown Jewel 2019—Tommy’s crossover could attract further mainstream attention. Speculation abounds about potential future storylines, including matches involving the Paul brothers, who are also connected to WWE.
Oba Femi’s Recent Absence from NXT Programming
Meanwhile, NXT star Oba Femi has been absent from recent shows, with reports indicating he has not appeared on NXT television for about a month since his loss at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Femi, a former North American champion, lost the title and a subsequent rematch to Tony D’Angelo, concluding a record 272-day championship reign.
The reasons for his disappearance remain unclear—possibilities include refreshing his character after consecutive losses, potential injury, or preparation for a main roster call-up. Femi emerged as a breakout star after debuting on NXT in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament, and capturing the North American Championship.
