Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; Oba Femi Absent from NXT

In the latest updates from the WWE Universe, several notable stories have emerged involving top wrestlers and rising stars.

Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40 Main Event and Future Prospects

Roman Reigns recently appeared on the Sports Illustrated Media podcast to discuss his experiences surrounding WrestleMania 40, particularly the shifting main event plans involving himself, Cody Rhodes, and The Rock. Reigns revealed that he was unfazed by the changes in opponents, emphasizing that his priority was being in the main event spotlight.

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with,” Reigns said. He explained that regardless of opponent, the goal was the same: defending his title and maintaining dominance at the top.

Originally, after Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, it seemed he would face Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, Rhodes initially declined to challenge Reigns, suggesting The Rock as the opponent instead. Fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse his decision, resulting in The Rock turning heel and aligning with Reigns. Together, Reigns and The Rock defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, while Rhodes captured the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. Asked about the possibility of a future Reigns vs. The Rock bout, Reigns acknowledged it could happen if fans demand it. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen," he stated. The Rock made a surprise WWE return at the recent Bad Blood event but has yet to reveal his intentions or appear since.

Tommy Fury Shows Interest in WWE Career

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former heavyweight champ Tyson Fury, hinted at potentially pursuing a career in professional wrestling with WWE. Fury shared a video from backstage at a recent WWE UK show where he expressed appreciation for WWE superstars and staff, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

He remarked, “I look forward to possibly climbing through the ropes one day. Who knows?” Tommy Fury currently holds an undefeated 10-0 professional boxing record and is known for a notable victory over Jake Paul. Given his connections to the Paul family and his wrestling exposure, he might become a compelling addition to WWE’s roster, possibly engaging with figures like Logan Paul.

Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Raises Questions

Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from recent NXT tapings and programming since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. The reason for the absence remains unclear.

Femi, who debuted on televised NXT in April 2023, enjoyed a strong rise, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days before his defeat. Following the title loss and subsequent rematch defeat, Femi has not appeared on NXT episodes.

This break could be for rest, injury, or a potential call-up to WWE’s main roster; alternatively, it might serve to allow time for the impact of his recent losses to subside. When he returns, many expect Femi to resume his position as a prominent contender, possibly eyeing the NXT Championship.

These developments highlight the dynamic and evolving landscape of WWE storylines and talent movements, keeping fans eager for what lies ahead.
