Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, The Rock & Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Future; Oba Femi Absent from NXT

In recent WWE news, Roman Reigns shared insights on his WrestleMania 40 experiences and potential future matches, boxer Tommy Fury teased a possible pro wrestling career with WWE, and former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from recent NXT tapings.

Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40 and The Rock

During an interview on the Sports Illustrated Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns discussed the main event situation at WrestleMania 40. Reigns acknowledged the back-and-forth decision-making about whether he would face The Rock or Cody Rhodes in the event’s headline matches. When asked if he was disappointed to face Rhodes instead of The Rock, Reigns expressed that it did not matter to him as long as he was in the main event spotlight.

Reigns said, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me."

Rhodes had won the 2024 Royal Rumble and initially indicated he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, seemingly opening the door for The Rock. However, after fan backlash, Rhodes reversed this position, leading to The Rock turning heel and forming an alliance with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, while Rhodes claimed the WWE Championship from Reigns in the Night 2 main event.

Regarding the possibility of a future Reigns versus The Rock match, Reigns expressed openness to it, conditioned on fan interest, stating, "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen." The Rock made a surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has not yet signaled his next move.

Tommy Fury Eyes a WWE Career

British boxer Tommy Fury appeared backstage at a recent WWE event during the company’s UK tour and posted a video online reflecting on the experience. Fury spoke positively of meeting WWE stars such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther. He mentioned that he looks forward to potentially stepping into the wrestling ring with WWE someday.

Fury, 25, is the younger brother of Tyson Fury, a former heavyweight boxing champion who previously appeared in WWE, including a match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a notable incident at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022. Tommy Fury holds a professional boxing record of 10-0 and is recognized as the only person to defeat Jake Paul in the ring. Given his connections and prominence, WWE could consider him a valuable future addition, potentially engaging with Logan Paul, a WWE Superstar.

Oba Femi Missing from NXT Programming

Separately, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been absent from NXT television and tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Reports indicate no backstage presence for Femi in recent weeks, with no injuries or other explanations publicly disclosed.

Femi’s run in NXT was marked by a breakout tournament victory and a record 272-day reign as North American Champion before dropping the title last month. His lack of recent appearances might indicate a reset period following his recent defeats, potential injury recovery, or preparation for a main roster move.

Fans and analysts anticipate that when Femi returns, he will likely contend for the top titles in NXT once again.

These developments highlight continuing storylines and emerging possibilities within WWE as the company moves forward into 2025.
