New Fast Boat Service Between Bali and East Java Enhances Inter-Island Travel for Tourists
Tourists visiting Indonesia can now enjoy a faster and more convenient journey between Bali and East Java thanks to the launch of a new fast boat service. This development significantly improves connectivity between the two popular tourist regions, making it easier for visitors to explore more of the Indonesian archipelago.
Improved Travel Connectivity
Previously, travelers moving between Bali and East Java faced a lengthy and often crowded ferry trip coupled with a long drive across Bali. To address these challenges and promote the combined destinations of Bali and East Java, the national tourism board, Wonderful Indonesia, together with the Ministry of Tourism and local authorities, have introduced a direct fast boat route. The service operates between Serangan Port in Denpasar, Bali, and Boom Marina Port in Banyuwangi, East Java.
The Express Bahari-operated fast boat reduces travel time to approximately three hours, a significant improvement over previous options, which involved complicated logistics and longer travel durations. By departing from Serangan, closer to the main tourist areas in Bali, the new route eliminates the need for a long drive to Gilimanuk and the typically congested ferry crossing.
Schedule and Onboard Experience
The service runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with the Bali departure at 3:00 PM and the return from Banyuwangi at 10:00 AM on the same days. Passengers can enjoy air-conditioned cabins and onboard amenities that provide a comfortable and exclusive atmosphere, offering scenic views of the Bali Strait and coastline during the journey.
Tourism Growth Opportunities
Officials from the East Java Tourism Board and Majestic Banyuwangi express optimism that the improved access will boost tourism to Banyuwangi and surrounding attractions, including the famous Ijen Crater with its mesmerizing blue fire volcano, Alas Purwo National Park, and the picturesque Pulau Merah Beach.
Online ticket booking is available through the Express Bahari Mobile App, allowing tourists to conveniently plan and secure their travel without the need to queue at ticket counters or rely on travel agents.
Expanding Visitor Horizons
This new fast boat service broadens the options for tourists interested in island hopping beyond Bali’s well-known outlying islands such as Nusa Penida and Lombok. With easier access to East Java, visitors can now consider a wider array of natural and cultural experiences within Indonesia’s diverse landscape.
By enhancing transport links and promoting combined itineraries, the initiative aims to strengthen the appeal of Bali and East Java as complementary destinations, further enriching the Indonesian tourism sector.
