Body Parts Found on Bali Beach Identified as Ukrainian Tourist Kidnapped and Tortured

Denpasar, Bali — March 6, 2026

Decomposing and mutilated human remains discovered on a beach in Bali have been confirmed by Indonesian police to belong to a Ukrainian tourist who was kidnapped and tortured while on holiday on the resort island.

The victim, 28-year-old Ihor Komarov, was identified through DNA testing that matched samples from the dismembered body parts with those of his mother, police spokesman Ariasandy announced at a press briefing in Denpasar, Bali’s capital. Although the spokesman refrained from naming the victim directly, he displayed a document bearing Komarov’s name and birthdate.

Komarov, the son of a wealthy Ukrainian businessman, was reportedly subjected to severe torture by his kidnappers who demanded a multi-million dollar ransom from his family. Police, however, have stated that the exact motive behind the crime remains under investigation.

According to reports, Komarov was abducted on February 15 while riding a motorbike with a friend in Jimbaran, a popular resort town in Bali. The victim’s companion promptly reported the incident to authorities after Komarov was forcibly taken into a car by assailants, leaving the friend unharmed. At the time of the kidnapping, Komarov was accompanied by his girlfriend, Yea Mishalova, a social media influencer who posted a photo with him on Valentine’s Day.

Several days later, locals discovered human body parts scattered on a nearby beach and along a riverbank. Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of a man who rented the vehicle used in the crime. He identified six additional suspects, all foreign nationals, who are now wanted by authorities on charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Authorities have confirmed that all six suspects have fled Indonesia, prompting the issuance of international red notices for their capture. Police also revealed these individuals hold multiple passports—some possessing two or three—and that ongoing verification efforts are being conducted abroad.

“Some carried out the kidnapping; there may be others who subsequently committed abuse,” Ariasandy stated. “All of them are foreign nationals with passports that may number more than two. Verification is being carried out abroad.”

The investigation into this brutal crime remains active as Indonesian police work in coordination with international agencies to locate and apprehend all suspects involved.
