Police Increase Nighttime Patrols in Bali’s Canggu and Denpasar to Enhance Tourist Safety

As Bali’s nightlife flourishes across popular destinations such as Canggu, Denpasar, Kuta, Uluwatu, and Seminyak, local authorities are intensifying efforts to keep visitors safe. Recognizing the potential for occasional disturbances and opportunistic crime in these buzzing nightlife areas, police units have ramped up patrols during peak weekend hours.

Focused Police Patrols in Canggu

In the resort area of Canggu, the North Kuta Police have launched weekend night patrols aimed at preventing street crime in busy tourist zones. Led by First Inspector Nyoman Sugita, officers engage with the public to maintain order, conduct inspections of suspicious individuals and properties, and reinforce security messages to the community.

First Inspector Sugita explained, “We’re conducting Saturday night patrols in crowded areas, especially tourist areas. We’re conveying public order and security messages to the public and inspecting people and property if we find anything suspicious.”

Increased Police Presence Across Denpasar

Similar measures are being enforced in Denpasar, where police patrol hotspots like Serangan Highway, Taman Pancing, Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jalan Diponegoro, and Jalan Gatot Subroto Tengah. The focus includes curbing aggravated theft, vehicle theft, illegal racing, use of sharp weapons, and curtailing motorcycle gang activities.

South Denpasar Police Chief AKP Agus Adi Apriyoga emphasized the ongoing commitment to community safety: “We will continue to be present in the community through patrol activities to maintain a conducive and safe situation.”

First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, head of Denpasar Police Public Relations, added, “This activity is a preventive measure by the police to prevent disturbances to public order and security and to provide a sense of security and comfort to the public who are active at night.”

Safety Tips for Tourists Enjoying Bali’s Nightlife

Authorities advise visitors to exercise common-sense precautions when exploring Bali’s vibrant nightlife. Tourists are encouraged to use registered taxi services like Grab or Gojek, ensuring all safety features are activated, and to avoid walking in poorly lit areas late at night.

Visitors should secure valuables in their accommodation safes and keep phones and jewelry concealed while out on the streets. Importantly, victims of any crimes are urged to promptly report incidents to police, as Bali authorities have a reputable track record for investigating thefts and returning stolen property when reports are filed swiftly.

With these increased patrols and safety guidelines in place, tourists can enjoy Bali’s nightlife with greater peace of mind, knowing that local police are actively working to maintain a safe environment across the island’s most popular nighttime destinations.
