ANTARA Collaborates to Boost Bali’s Sports Tourism through World Cup Watch Parties
Badung, Bali – Perum Lembaga Kantor Berita Nasional (LKBN) ANTARA is actively contributing to the development of sports tourism in Bali by organizing communal viewing events and a photo exhibition coinciding with the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, ANTARA hosted a public watch party at Peninsula Island in The Nusa Dua tourist area, Badung, featuring the quarterfinal match between Argentina and Switzerland. The outdoor green space attracted both international and domestic tourists, as well as local officials including Bali Governor Wayan Koster, who joined the enthusiastic crowd supporting their favorite teams.
Benny Siga Butarbutar, President Director of LKBN ANTARA, emphasized the agency’s role as a national information amplifier and active participant in supporting government initiatives to promote Bali as a premier sports tourism destination. “Hosting this watch party is an opportunity for ANTARA to bring joy to the community during the World Cup and to showcase football as a universal activity that unites people,” said Benny.
In addition to the watch party, ANTARA is holding a photo journalism exhibition titled "Negeri Bola" at the same location from July 11 to 24, 2026. The exhibition chronicles the journey, struggles, and traditions of Indonesian football over the years, aiming to inspire visitors and raise enthusiasm for the nation’s aspirations in international football competitions.
Governor Wayan Koster praised the event, underscoring its alignment with Bali’s tourism strategy which encompasses not only sports events but also immersive experiences for sports enthusiasts. “This initiative greatly supports our sports tourism agenda. It allows visitors to enjoy the excitement of the World Cup while they are on vacation here,” he remarked happily, especially as key Argentine players scored memorable goals during the match.
The collaboration also involves I Made Agus Dwiatmika, General Manager of The Nusa Dua, who highlighted that this joint initiative between two state-owned enterprises demonstrates that sports tourism in Indonesia extends beyond other known venues like Mandalika, positioning Bali as a complementary hub.
Visitors responded with enthusiasm. Adrian, a 52-year-old tourist from Australia, shared his positive experience attending the watch party. “The atmosphere is very exciting, and people are very friendly. I also enjoyed local snacks from nearby vendors. I hope there will be more events like this in the area,” he said.
This initiative marks the first outdoor World Cup communal viewing and photo exhibition in the Peninsula Island area, setting a new precedent for open-air tourism activities that celebrate sports while enhancing visitor engagement in Bali’s vibrant tourism landscape.
