Tourist Arrivals to Bali Increase Nearly 10% in 2025, Australia Leads Visitor Numbers
Bali, Indonesia – Foreign tourist arrivals to Bali experienced significant growth in 2025, reaching approximately 6.95 million visits, marking a nearly 10 percent increase compared to the previous year. This rise underscores Bali’s continuing appeal as a top travel destination in Southeast Asia despite global economic challenges.
According to senior statistician I Made Agus Adnyana from Statistics Indonesia’s Bali office, the island recorded 6,948,754 direct foreign tourist arrivals between January and December 2025. This represents a 9.72 percent increase over 2024 figures, driven by strengthened air and sea transport links.
Notably, arrivals via sea routes saw a sharp increase, rising to 41,169 in 2025 from 24,819 the year before—a growth of nearly 66 percent. This surge is attributed to a rise in cruise ship visits and expanded port connectivity, including two major cruise ship dockings in December alone.
Regional Trends and Top Source Markets
While arrivals from ASEAN countries declined marginally by 0.09 percent, Bali saw increased visitor numbers from Asia, Europe, Oceania, the United States, the Middle East, and Africa throughout 2025. Australia emerged as the top source market, with 1.63 million Australian visitors recorded during the year.
India and China followed as the next largest source countries, with roughly 569,260 visitors from India and about 537,380 from China.
Outlook
The steady growth in foreign arrivals highlights the success of Bali’s tourism sector in expanding connectivity and attracting diverse international visitors. With continued enhancements in both air and sea travel infrastructure, Bali is poised to maintain its status as a preferred destination in the coming years.
