Increased Police Patrols Demonstrate Bali’s Commitment to Tourist Safety

In response to recent concerns following safety warnings issued by the South Korean Embassy, Bali authorities have intensified law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of both tourists and residents on the island. Over the past weekend, Badung Police conducted heightened night patrols in the North Kuta area, reaffirming Bali’s dedication to maintaining its reputation as one of the world’s safest tourist destinations.

Crackdown on Illegal Street Racing and Anti-Social Behavior

One of the major focuses of these operations is the crackdown on illegal street racing, particularly involving motorcycles modified with loud ‘brong’ exhausts, which have been a significant source of disturbances for the local community. During patrols in Canggu, Police Chief AKBP Joseph Edward Purba led a series of spot checks that identified 25 violators, including 17 Indonesian nationals and 8 foreigners.

Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, Head of Public Relations for Badung Police, emphasized the importance of these large-scale operations: “This is a concrete step to reduce traffic violations, especially the use of brong exhausts which disturb the public.” Police intend to continue these operations regularly, adjusting patrol schedules to times and locations prone to violations for greater effectiveness.

Enhanced Immigration Enforcement and Community Engagement

Beyond traffic issues, Bali has deployed the Dharma Dewata Immigration Task Force to address crimes involving foreign nationals disrupting peace and violating laws. At the inauguration ceremony in Denpasar, Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stressed the importance of this approach to sustaining Bali’s security as a premier tourist destination. The Indonesian Immigration service has also introduced Village Guidance Immigration Officers (PIMPASA) to engage directly with local communities by educating and monitoring foreign residents.

Governor Wayan Koster voiced his support during the inauguration, pointing to recent incidents affecting Bali’s security and highlighting the necessity of such measures, especially concerning certain foreign nationals.

Positive Impact and Future Outlook

Bali Police reported a 23% decrease in criminal cases involving foreign nationals during the first four months of 2026 compared to the previous year. They reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and comfort through sustained operations and community cooperation.

With these strengthened law enforcement efforts and community programs, Bali continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone on the island, reassuring travelers and residents alike.
