Increased Police Patrols Enhance Tourist Safety in Bali’s Popular Vacation Resorts
Bali, Indonesia — Amidst the peak travel season and busy school holidays, Bali has stepped up efforts to ensure the safety and comfort of tourists visiting its busiest resorts. Police patrols have notably intensified across key tourist areas, providing visible security presence and proactive crime prevention.
Focus on North Kuta and Canggu
On the evening of Saturday, June 20, a team of 35 police officers, led by North Kuta Police Chief Commissioner Ketut Sukadana, carried out extensive patrols throughout North Kuta. This region, known for popular destinations like Canggu, Seseh, and Seminyak, is at the center of Bali’s tourism, with Canggu highlighted as a hotspot due to its vibrant nightlife.
Patrol units used a combination of emergency vehicles, motorcycles, and cars to monitor areas including Canggu Village, Tibubeneng Village, Dalung Village, and the Kerobokan subdistricts. Key locations such as nightclubs, gas stations, ATMs, 24-hour convenience stores, villa complexes, and residential neighborhoods considered vulnerable to crime were prioritized in these operations.
Community Engagement and Crime Prevention
Officers engaged closely with local residents, tourists, traditional village security officials known as pecalang, and villa security personnel to identify and address any concerns or suspicious activities. Authorities emphasized public participation in neighborhood watch efforts and encouraged prompt reporting of disturbances through the emergency 110 hotline, which also has English-speaking responders available.
Special attention was given to the online motorcycle taxi community, with drivers reminded to comply with safety and legal standards such as helmet use, passenger limits, vehicle registration, and traffic regulations.
Official Statements and Ongoing Security Measures
Commissioner Sukadana explained that these patrols are preventative, aiming to curb crimes like motorcycle theft, pickpocketing, and snatch theft that commonly target tourists. He confirmed that joint patrols would continue regularly, especially on busy Saturday nights, to maintain safety in North Kuta.
This heightened security initiative aligns with directives from the Indonesian Minister of Tourism, who recently issued a circular promoting safe and enjoyable tourism throughout the 2026 school holidays. Bali’s Tourism Office Head, Wayan Sumarajaya, highlighted collaborative district-level reporting and coordination among stakeholders, including police teams, to monitor crowd movements and security conditions province-wide.
Calm Despite Crowds
Despite the increased tourist arrivals, reports indicate a stable safety environment. The Bali Sun’s Traveler Safety Index has shown a decrease in scam reports over the past week, reflecting the positive impact of the intensified security efforts.
Tourists visiting Bali during this busy season can expect to see a strong and organized presence of security personnel, including police officers, lifeguards, and village security teams, all dedicated to ensuring a safe and pleasant experience on the island.
